If you only follow me on this webpage, then this must seem like a bolt out of nowhere – but Accent Reds, the sequel to Club Medusa, will be released (finally) in two weeks time, 16th June 2025.
I did laugh when I read my last blog on here in 2022 declaring it was finished then. By then it would probably only be in its second draft (draft ten is the one thats being released) and in a much expanded form.
Of course I have lots of excuses for the lateness, Germany being a big one (long story, which is probably worthy of a book in itself), the Civil Service (another long story), injuries, lurgies, and the frustrating process of editing – which I won’t go into here – but it was, err – frustrating.
Anyway, long journey, but at least I can honestly say I’m very happy with this book, both as a story in itself and as worthy sequel to the first book. Also, the third book, The Fear Aesthetic, is already written and in a reasonable state of edit. There is a release date in December this year, but in all honesty, I’ll let it go it whenever I’m happy with it. And as a bonus, I’ve written a prequel to Club Med which I was very pleased with, but as it’s not long enough to be full book, it may be joined by another couple of Club related backstories and released as book four. And there will at least be a book five.
Meanwhile I’ll be trying to work out how to use my website properly, bombarding social media with banners and marketing, and maybe even planning a few visits to comic conventions and book festivals if they’ll have me. Nowhere is safe.
And expect to see more blogging too. Not only was the whole publishing journey a very different one to the first book, which I would like to write about just to help others avoid the pitfalls, but there’s a lot odd stuff in Accent Reds: inspirations, influences, ideas and more than a few odd things. I think it would be fun to talk about some of those also.
So brace yourselves – because all going well, there should be a lot more coming from me soon.
